Israel Trip – Tuesday
Today’s trip was spent in the northern part of Israel. We began by visiting the ruins of Corazin (a city that our Lord cursed) and Caesarea Philippi (where Jesus told Peter that on this rock I will build My church). Further north we walked a trail to Dan, viewed the of the ruins high place set up by Jeroboam I, and viewed an ancient Canaanite city gate.
We finished our tour on the top of Golan Heights. Along the way we saw a few cows of Bashan and could see Mt. Hermon (where Abraham received his covenant from God) from the distance.
Israel Trip – Monday
Shalom,
Today, our group traveled around the western side of the Sea of Galilee. We visited the sites where Jesus taught the beatitudes, where He fed the 5000, Peter’s mother-in-law’s house, and the ruins of a synagogue in Capernaum. We took a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee prior to lunch. We finished our day by visiting the Jordan river where Dee, Stephanie, and Diane were baptized.
Israel Trip – Sunday
Shalom everybody,
Today we left Jerusalem. First we headed south to the Dead Sea area. At the southern end of the Dead Sea, we took a cable car to Herod’s mountain fortress of Masada. Afterwards, we had lunch at Qumran and toured this ancient Essene community of 2000 years ago. Some chose to float in the Dead Sea at our next stop.
After leaving the Dead Sea area we headed north to Tiberius. Before arriving in Tiberius, our bus driver (Nisan) took us to the village that he was raised in and we had the privilege of visiting their local synagogue. His mother invited us to her home for tea and cake — what an incredible experience!!!
We arrived at our hotel in Tiberius around 7:30pm. It is already too dark to see the sea. I am certain that it will be a beautiful sight in the morning.
Israel Trip – Saturday
Shalom Y’all,
Today we spent all day in the Old City of Jerusalem. We walked the Via Dolorosa and observed the traditional “stations of the cross.” We ended our day at the Garden Tomb (which is the second of two possible Golgotha sites; the other being the location of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre) where we observed the Lord’s supper together. Great day but very crowded.
