Weekly Update: June 27-July 3, 2010

Curtis & Jennifer Lindsey are visiting Grace Church this Sunday, Jule 27. Curtis is coming as a candidate for the High School Pastor position. If you would like to meet Curtis and his wife, they will be available after the 2nd block Sunday in the G.Y.M. (11:45 AM).

Summer Nights @ Grace continue this Wednesday with TACO NIGHT! You might consider wearing clothes that can get wet.

The church offices will be closed next Monday, July 5 in recognition of Independence Day.

Our Women’s Ministry has a number of upcoming events and opportunities:

  • a Salad Luncheon this Tuesday, June 29, from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. Sign up TODAY in the Main Hall.
  • Tuesday morning Women’s Study, July 6-27 from 10:00-11:30 AM, covering Linda Dillow’s book Calm My Anxious Heart. Childcare is provided, sign up in the Main Hall.
  • Pine Cove Women’s Conference, February 25-27, 2011. Shirley Bryan, wife of DTS chaplain Bill Bryan, will be leading the Pine Cove Women’s Conference next February. If you would like to attend this conference with other women from Grace Church, please contact Valerie at the church office.

Weekly Update: May 23-29, 2010

There will be a Town Hall Meeting at Grace Church on Sunday, June 6 in the Gymnatorium at 4:00 PM to discuss changes in how we are packaging our ministry. Childcare will be available up through the 4th grade.

The Grace in Action workday at the Loving Christian Maternity Home has been re-scheduled for Saturday, June 19 from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM. We’ll do yard work, haul off debris, paint, do carpentry & electrical repairs. There’s something for everyone to do…all ages, skilled, unskilled. We also need people to bring food for the workers. For men, “Man Time – Facing our Giants” begins Tuesday, June 8 from 6:00-7:30 AM in the Tejas Room. This is a 5 week study encouraging men to face the giants that typically rob them of their impact. Signups begin TODAY in the Main Hall.

Family VBS (FAM JAM) will be for parents and their children ages 4 through 2nd grade. FAM JAM will be held June 14-16 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Signups begin TODAY in the Main Hall to attend or to help.

Weekly Update: May 9-15, 2010

Our high school and college graduates will be honored in a presentation next Sunday, May 16. If you would like your graduate to be included, please send a photo immediately, along with their name, name of school, and future plans to ruth@gracechurch.com.

Senior adults have the opportunity to serve this Thursday, May 13, at the Food Bank. Meet at Stone Lake at 12:30 PM.

There’s a lot going on in our Children’s Ministry! Our summer VBS “Fam Jam” will be held June 14-16 from 6:00-8:00 PM. This is a time for parents and children ages 4 to 2nd grade.

3rd and 4th graders are invited to our Summer Retreat at Camp Chaparral, July 25-28. Cost is $150, with a deposit due at sign-up. Sign up in the 3rd or 4th grade classrooms at Stone Lake by June 6.

Finally, we also have a part-time Preschool Director position available, responsible for children ages 4-Kindergarten. If you are interested in any of the above Children’s Ministry activities, please contact josh@gracechurch.com.

Weekly Update: May 2-8, 2010

The K-Group Picnic is tonight, May 2, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Weeks Park Pavilion. This is for all K-Group participants, and childcare is provided at Stone Lake.

Infant Dedication is next Sunday, May 9. Contact the church office by noon tomorrow (May 3) if you would like to participate.

Also next Sunday, Leila and Joy George will be speaking on behalf of Asian Christian Academy in India. This training facility is part of our global outreach. You may hear their report during the Second Block in the Mesquite Room.

There will be a potluck dinner on May 16 at 5:30 for anyone who would like to hear a report from our group who recently visited Israel. This is a churchwide event, and childcare will be available for kids through the 4th grade. Sign up in the Main Hall.

Weekly Update: April 25-May 1, 2010

Believer’s Baptism will be offered this Sunday, April 25, at 3:00 PM at New Harvest Church, 1401 Red Fox Rd.

Attention Moms! Do you worry about your children? Come experience how you can replace your anxiety and fear with peace and hope. Moms In Touch International gathers moms together to pray specifically and scripturally for our children and school. Join us for an introductory “coffee” in the church dining room this Sunday, April 25, from 2:00-3:30 PM. Please contact Donna McCulloch at DonnaKMC@aol.com or 642-7660 for information about our local group.

The Pregnancy Help Center is holding their annual Walk for Life on May 8. If you would like additional information about this event, please pick up a brochure at the Welcome Center.

Infant Dedication will be Sunday May 9. Although infant dedication is not believer’s baptism and is not related to receiving eternal life, it necessitates that parents be interviewed prior to the service. If you would like to participate in the dedication, please contact one of the staff pastors to schedule an appointment by NOON on May 3 (692-4251).

Weekly Update: April 18-24, 2010

Last Saturday’s Grace in Action workday was postponed and will be rescheduled for a future date. Stay tuned!

A shift in our student ministries: In order to more effectively prepare 6th graders for junior high, we have asked Jason Custer to focus all his attention on the Grace 56 ministry. In addition, we have hired George Castro as our Junior High Director. Please pray for the ministries of these men and the students whose lives they touch.

Weekly Update: April 11-17, 2010

Next Saturday, April 17, we as a church family have an opportunity to lend a helping hand at the Loving Christian Maternity Home, 4011 Seymour Highway. There is something for everyone to do as we haul off debris, paint, and perform yard work and light repairs. We also need others to bring food to the workers. Sign up in the Main Hall, contact Leah Walker, or just show up! 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

This Sunday, April 11, we will hear from Anna Lerew and Ryan Klein as they prepare for international missionary work this summer. You will have the opportunity to visit with them in the Main Hall and offer your support.

The following weekend, April 23-25, is our annual Men’s Retreat to Quartz Mountain Lodge. Sign up ASAP (by Tuesday, 4/20) if you plan to attend.

If you would like to be baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ, contact the church office before noon on April 19 to be interviewed by a staff pastor. For the rest of us, this is an opportunity to attend and encourage these members of our church family.

Weekly Update: April 4-10, 2010

This Sunday morning is our Easter celebration, including the continuation of our Jewish Feasts series with Christ as the “First Fruits” of the resurrection. All services and Bible Fellowships are at their normal time.

There are several upcoming events to mark on your calendar:

A Grace in Action workday is scheduled for Saturday, April 17th at the Loving Christian Maternity Home from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This is an opportunity for each of us to minister in our own community. Sign up in the Main Hall or contact Leah Walker.

This year’s Men’s Retreat will again be at the Quartz Mountain Lodge, April 23-25. Two men from Watermark Church will join us as the speakers for the weekend. Sign up in the Main Hall or contact Reggie Coe.

Weekly Update: February 14-20, 2010

Signups for the 2010 Jamaica Adult Mission Trip are available in the Main Hall.

If you would like to be a part of the church Prayer Team, praying one day each month specifically for our nation, missions, and church, you can sign up in the Main Hall. If you have regular access to e-mail, you can also receive emergency prayer updates.

Brandon Carpenter will lead another PowerPoint training class on Tuesday, February 23 at 6:30 PM. Contact Brenna at the church office to sign up.
